German-born Katrin Rippel grew up in Dresden, learned in Stuttgart, then worked for 16 years in international tourism. After assignments in Germany, France and the United States, she moved to Washington State. In 2005, she launched MENU International, a web design and translation firm specializing in the travel, hotel and food industries.
